Hi all

I've got a CPP3 and it's worked wonders for processing my 10x8 (8x10 for my US friends!) negatives although i'm still wrestling with exposure/times/chemistry to get negs that snap when they come out of the tank, but that's another topic.

The issue i'm facing at the moment - not helped by the loosely translated 11 page manual that seems to come with the machine as an afterthought - is programming my own processes into the system. I can get into the program mode and i can rename the process and change the times for each step but i can't, however hard i try, find a way of changing the name of the process step.

For those of you familiar with the read out these are Chemical 1, Wash 1, Chemical 2, Wash 2 etc etc which i want to change to something more radical like developer, stop, fix. Crazy, i know, but i just think it would be helpful.

A lot to ask but if someone knows how to do it, it would be enormously helpful so that i don't wash when i should be fixing!!

Many thanks

Stephen

I have ATL2200 so I know exactly what you mean. I'm afraid the only way to change those process step names would be to hack the software that is in the microprocessor. It would involve serious inverse engineering and specific electronic hardware to do so.

Thanks for everyone who read my dilemma and offered a response. Appreciate your help, as ever.

I got no response to my Conversation with CatLABS but did get a reply from Jobo in Germany. Apparently, as you say Lionel, the labels are hardwired and cannot be changed. Not quite what they suggest in the manual where it says they are " . . . completely free for you to customise entirely." Not quite the truth.

Have expressed my disappointment that such expensive machines should be so crude in their control configuration and suggested they update the firmware. This should also address the fact that the timer keeps counting down when the process is paused, for example when changing wash water. Once again, a pretty basic issue and one i wouldn't expect in something costing over £3k!!

Anyway, thanks again. Will let you know if i hear any more.

Jobo changed from a manufacturing to a trading company. Thus I was quite surprised they introduced a follow-up model.
I wonder whether they still have the experts in house.
