Jobo CPP2 won't properly lift expert drums

Hi Friends, I recently purchased a Jobo CPP2 with a lift. It is missing the lift handle (anyone have an extra to sell?) so I lift the tanks manually by reaching under the rack in the water bath and pulling them up.

This works fine for smaller tanks, but when I have the lift adjusted for expert tanks and I try to lift them, the lift shifts out of adjustment and goes back into small tank mode, causing the solution in the tank to leak out.

If I put a finger under the white round tab on the body of the lift while I'm lifting expert tanks, then it drains fine, but it seems like something is not locking into place when I'm using expert tanks.

I too have a lift arm that is broken off and I have lifted by hand.

Pull out the two rollers on the red base and turn them around for that the Expert Drum sits level. Let me know if you still have a problem after that.

A new lift arm is probably something you'll need to rig up for yourself. That said, however, even if you have the OEM arm you still need to assist the arm by lifting under the drum with Expert Drums or the arm will bend, if using something like a full 8x10 drum. Out of curiosity, are you using the correct rollers for the tank being used? Are you adjusting them for the tank used? I can't remember for sure because I generally use my CPP2 with Expert Drums only, but I think the Expert Drums require the rollers to be snapped directly into the cradle under the drum, while the smaller 2500 and 1500 series drums requires the rollers with the "arm" on them and they point in/out depending on the drum.

Jobo sells replacement arms, but they are quite expensive (and need to be slightly modified for older lifts)

Also take a look on Ebay for replacement lift arms. You might be able to find a spare for less that way.

Check CatLabs, they stock Jobo parts. The arm does seem a bit fragile, but so far so good on mine.

With the Expert Drum, especially if you fill it with water, it can get very heavy. Sometimes I use my other hand to help moving it.

From the JOBO Lift manual:
"When raising and lowering the JOBO Lift with a heavy tank or drum, use a two handed procedure. Support the tank or drum with your right hand, while operating the lift handle with your left hand."

+1 That is exactly what I do. If I were to replace the lift lever it would probably just break again. It is a well know failure point.

This may be the problem. I'm not making any changes to the rollers for the different drums. I'll check it out.

If the funnel selector is moving when you raise the lift, the selector unit is broken. Unfortunately, that part is no longer available, and was eliminated from the design of new style lifts.

But the old arms snapped off and the remainder needs to be carefully removed with an easy out.

Yes This is a very weak point.

Roller spacing is for different diameter drums so the stay level
