I picked up a Jobo CPE2 with a lift earlier this week. I had previously been developing in stainless steel tanks on an Ilford motorised roller base, so the seller took the time to fill it with water and demonstrate how to use it. It wasn't apparent at the time he filled the tanks with water, however I noticed that the tank was leaking blix. I lost approximately half of what I poured in.

I ran the CPE2 with an empty bath to try to identify the source of the leak. I think it may be leaking from the main spout due to a cracked and missing retainer clip. I've also noticed it also leaks from the main spout when I pour too quickly -- is this a fault or simply user error? If somebody with more experience could chime in I would be most appreciative.

I plan to purchase a set of replacement clips, however in the mean time I thought about relocating the clips from the upper spout to the lower spout. Do the clips just come off with a bit of force? Needless to say I'm afraid of applying too much force and breaking the good clips too.

If the chemicals are leaking when in the horizontal position, then, unless the chemistry is coming out of the main cog lid, you don't have the red retaining plastic ring completely home thereby sealing the lid with the body of the tank.

What tank system are you using, 1500 or the 2500? Not that it makes much difference except the 1500 system has a tighter curve and is (in general) slightly harder to get to seated 100% square and therefore completely sealed.

When you mention a cracked and missing retainer clip, are you referring to the red plastic ring(s)?

If you could post some pictures that could be a great help.

Mick.

Oh dear, I just saw your little link to images.

With regard to the holding clip on the lift, yep, that will leak like a sieve. If possible, pull things apart and swap the top retaining clips.

With regard to the 1530 module, yep with that many sealing wings missing, that will probably weep solution into the bath. I would suggest that that 1530 module is no longer usable. I have a couple with one missing, they hold, but one I had with two missing alongside each other, leaked.
