Jobo 2502? If not what is it?

I already had a black new 2502 and wanted another. I bid and win an eBay auction for a clear one described as a 2502. It came today. It's diameter is smaller and while the center post fits I'm not sure it's a 2502. Those familiar please take a look at the attached photos of my existing black one, my 2521 tank and the new clear one that just arrived. Is it an old 2502 or something else?

I think found it. A Jobo duo-set 2004? What tank does this fit? I cannot see this working in my 2451 with the 2502.....will it?

Maybe a reel for the 1500 series tanks? I have a bunch of those but not where I can get to them and look at them to be sure.

What you got is the "old"-version reel for the smaller tank series. (Jobo offers two ranges of tanks with different diameters.)

If it fits the center column and lid fits on properly, then I don't see why it won't work perfectly well. Just try it and see.

The issue is the film ends up spoiled closer to the center column, compare the two and you can see that the 2502 spools film closer to the outer rim. Therefore using a tank on its side means I'll likely need more developer than the 2521 designates (270ml).

And it's clearly not a 2502 which means I probably paid too much for it.

Nope, compared. It's not a 1500 series spool.

Nope, compared. It's not a 1500 series spool.

It is a reel for the older small tank as tank type 1000. But it fits the 1500 series too. See my link on the two small reel versions.

True, I was thinking inversion as opposed to rotary automatic processor.

I use them and do manual constant rotation using a Jobo rolling rack. I just tested it with two 120 rolls but used 600ml of chemistry. Worked fine. But I prefer using 270ml with the 2502 of course. It's clearly not a 2502 nor a 1500 series. The only photo online that I posted above shows it as a 2004 but I cannot find any Jobo reference or otherwise discussing the #2004 reels. There's another auction showing another clear Jobo reel where the red tab is connected from the edge and not from the middle but that one is for 110/16mm film...

This one can work with my 2521 tank but with more chemistry. But I want the 2502 I paid for. Will see what the seller wants to do. Hopefully send my the 2502 and I can send this one back...

I have a 2500 series tank for the 2509n sheet film holders. But in the 1970s I had an earlier series, also for 4x5. The tank was called 2336 and the film holders were transparent. Maybe what you were sent is the roll film reel for that series of tank. The internal diameter of the tank is 115mm approx.

I sent a photo of the reel to someone at www.catlabs.info who seem to be one of the only JOBO suppliers left. They told me the following:

"Richard, That is a 200X type reel which is not compatible with any current Jobo system tanks. I am not sure what tanks it does work with, but there were several RO tanks, as well as 202X tanks that used these. We have limited info about these systems, and they have been out of production for decades. Best, Omer"

So there we are. The seller on eBay is being very communicative and even though I questioned him as to how the auction can say "Photo of Actual Item" which is indeed a photo of a 2502, and now he can't find the actual 2502, he's trying to see if he can locate an actual 2502 through an associate. So we'll get this solved one way or another.
