If you cut off the mattress tag you go directly to jail. Remove a JCII tag and the front and rear lenses get deep scratches.

Why SO funny? Serious collectors of many items like everything to be as original as possible, condition, packing, instructions, receipt from the shop, whatever could be regarded as relevant. Might seem a bit odd or OTT if you're not interested in the particular items, but the collector will undoubtedly have the last laugh when he comes to sell them.........

Who cares about a few bucks up or down, really. Stop it with this bs.

Simple, if you carry your camera around, I assume that you are a photographer rather than a camera collector ? The sticker or its absence doesn't affect the usability....but you'd look a bit of an idiot if you carried your camera around in its original box. :whistling:

Well yeah. The big mac I ate 12 years ago, well, if I hadn't eaten it but kept it in its original styrofoam box, I probably could get 3-400$ for this mint Bigmac. But somehow, I don't regret having eaten it. I was hungry.

Also, not only was I disappointed to learn JCII does *not* mean Japan Camera Inspection Institute, I was disappointed that the sticker means nothing in regard to inspection of an individual camera.

I have to correct you:
In the past it indeed meant Japan Camera Inspection Institute.

But yes, the institute only did general quality control.

You're a photographer, like me, not a collector. But you wanted to know why anyone might be interested in stickers, boxes, etc., I told you. I happen to think that building models of London Bridge with matchsticks is a bit of a futile pursuit, but some people enjoy it, I don't call it bs. If I want to be logical, why do I waste time on photography when I know the kids will dump all my hard work in the trash when the time comes.

Now that really is logical BS, and the laugh of the day.:laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh:

Do you mean Tower Bridge there?
London Bridge models would be fairly easy to build.

Think the more realistic term is quality assurance.
It was Demming who had told them how to build eg 'six wheel drive' vehicles, from statistical controls to management methods, they did not need the sticker.
The Ja mindset adopted this as the U.S. had done during WWII.
The sticker has no value without the box and receipt.

London Bridge was moved to Lake Havasu Arizona.
