Is this true? I am living in HK and other Asian countries most of the time. The Japanese supplies always come in handy, like the Konishi G17 glue (most stationary stores have this) , UN lens suckers .

I just saw few post about selling G17 glue and it costs much more from my local stores. Should I give up my fixing camera hobbies and turn into glue seller? 🤪

iFixit and Microtools should also have Japanese products on offer, otherwise these products remain unknown to me in Europe. Japan Hobby Tool is an exception. Amazon is too confusing.

I think it's a shame because there should be a lot of useful tools available in Japan, especially for camera repairs, and in my experience the quality of Japanese products is good.

An overview would be fantastic!

I believe it is better not to post any direct link to where to buy, but the makers of the tools .

UN Company Ltd.
Well-known for its flat rubber blower during 1980s, almost all photographers would have 1 in their bags. Besides they make numerous quality accessories especially the Air-driven shutter release cable, rain cover and etc. The lens suckers are the best partner.

Kanto Camera
Maker of the MR-9 battery adapter (1.55 ->1.35V) and also others . The adapter is not cheap but it can help you to keep the original meter setting without modification . The adapter is best working with silver oxide battery but also workable with alkaline .

Hozan Tools
One of the real excellent tool makers in Japan. Their products are not cheap but very reliable. I have the tweezers, anti-static blower, alcohol dispenser , and the precision oiler.

Engineer
The worn screw extractors (the piler and the bits). If possible , try it with the rust remover (ZC-28) would be the most effective .

😍

With the translation function on the iPhone, the sites can be translated directly from Japanese.

Thanks!

Polarbear Camera in the UK stocks Asian tools. The owner, Adam, is continuously listening to people that restore/repair camera/lenses for new things to add to their store ... Konishi G17 is one item he has imported and is testing out.

G17 glue is not new? 🤨
The only thing is that it is quite similar to the UHU all purpose glue (traditional yellow one) .

Speaking of Konishi
I sometimes prefer white glue(green bottle) for easier positioning and clean up. It is specially bond well on metal, some plastic, leather, wood. It is quick dry also . I have never disappointed.

If it's still made in Japan, it's easy to get here on the US West Coast. The company where I worked before retirement and one other local dealer had huge selections of Japanese tools - including the best of the best. I brought in power equipment and construction related tools, along serious cabinet shop and architectural renovation options, while the other dealer specialized more in classic hand tools; but we cooperated rather than competed. There was yet another significant importer in the area; but they retired about 15 yrs ago. Glue? - if it exists, we either had it in stock or could get it, including all kinds of aerospace types due to our military sales division. But our main forte wood based.

I also specialized in German tools - largest selection in the Western hemisphere, in fact. It was fun and successful; but I like retirement even better!
