Is it possible to attach m39 jan pol to barnack ?

Umut

In any case you would be lacking the focusing helicoid

I tried once M39 enlarger lens on nikon body with some strange adapter - focus was somewhere on 1 meter I think ...? Best would be to test focusing on some M body, open on bulb, mat paper on negative place, and then see. Or take a photo of 2 meter measuring device and see where is goes in to focus.

Thats intelligent discussion. May be enlarger lenses designed for papers distance ? Is it correct ?

Thank you AgX and Darko,

Umut

Not something I've tried.
They are optimized for close working distances. But, the focal length is what it is, so presumably it would give you infinity focus when when the nodal point is 50 mm from the film plane. But since there is also no worry about the flange distance in its normal use, it may, or may not be in focus at infinity when fully seated on a Leica body. The ideal body to try something like that on would be a Contax-type since the hellicoid is part of the body, but, I'm not sure the available adaptors give you infinity focus for a 50.

Thank you bdial.

I have no contax or copy body but if it works , I can invest in a kiev.

5 centimeters looks like too much for barnack when I dont know the body thickness of a barnack , its seems to me less but I must be corrected and informed.

I think I am using 1.5 to 4 meters subjects at barnack but if you think for helicoid , there is may be 5 mms less than the infinity focus.

photograph a ruler with the camera on a tripod.
it will show you where your perfect focus is.
also photograph the ruler with the lens stopped down
1 stop each exposure to show what your DOF is,
so if you don't want to have something 6 inches from your lens
you will know at f 11 things might be in focus at 5 feet

John,

I dont have lens , I must be sure to invest in from others experiences. Thank you for helping hand but I think I might not have a luxury to invest in question lens without become sure about it.

Measured mine, Call it 32mm from lens mount to the outside of the back. This includes the vulcanite.
Using my memory flange/focal is 28.8mm.

Thank you John, thank you very much.

How to increase 28.8 mm to 50mm for jan pol ? And I dont have any idea how much it elongates from lens mount to back of the jan pol lens ? I mean you can mount the m39 jan pol but if lenses last element elongates 4 cms ? - 4cms is not real but a imagination-

Is there any jan pol m39 owner out there who could measure it ?

Than we can start search for suitable adapter to mount it to barnack .
