Thanks Robert for clarifying that.

As for Don, I believe he and Hunt are good friends.

Also, I can't and won't speak for what he likes or dislikes.

Well, let's see ... I know who Jack Dykinga is, but I have no clue who Don Kirby is.

Don is very outspoken pompus person, he is very hypicritcal on anything HE is not currently doing, as I have stated many times, the cream will rise to the top, and the milk will be in the bottom of the bowl, film is NOT dead and the true stars of the industry will continue to rise to the top, there is a void being developed here, that will define fine art over taking pictures...and that is not to say digital is bad, or its not here to stay, but it still does not offer the quality that needs to be for many things that are done...If Don thinks, then Don does, but it does not mean he is right...

As I sit here with a smile on my face.

More power to you Don, but just make sure you focus on the right thing..

One other thing I can add to this, beings Les has been mentioned....

Les is pure 110% gentleman, with an extreme amount of knowledge and many things that he can teach to each of us, I had occasion to enjoy Les's company in my own home for 5 days earlier this summer, and can tell you, just watching him, speaking to him and learning from him was probably one of the most enlighting experiances I have ever had in my photographic life, he by, just virtue of being here expanded my vision greatly and I look forward to his next visit with great anticipation, an yes, I am a analog shooter, which in his visit, never once came up, but he also taught me a great deal about the digital arena, and sitting next to him on my couch looking at the laptop taught me a great deal about different aspects of why sometimes he chooses digital..

Some probably don't realize that Jack was a Pulitzer Prize-winning photojournalist before he became a landscape photographer. I've heard that his book "Stone Canyons of the Colorado Plateau" was instrumental in getting the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument declared in 1996, as well as the Mexican government declaring the Sierra Alamos, featured in his book "The Secret Forest", a National Park. Not bad, wouldn't you say. I wonder if Don knows all this.

Personal take on all this is everyone is allowed their opinion, but sometimes people of some noterity should be a bit more carefull in what they say and who they say it to. Don't know either Don or Jack, but do know their work and would say both are very good photographers....but that is just my opinon. If you really want an interesting read, go Dead Link Removed website and see what his thoughts on digital, then read the article he wrote - The Future of Traditional Photography in PhotoTechnique.

So if Mr. Kirby did make the comment about Mr Dykinga that is unfortunate, but he may have thought it would not end up a topic of discussion - or even care if it does. The Dig vs Traditional debate is such a tried one, that I'm not sure what it is currently about. I enjoy traditional methods, many of which I learned from Les McLean - who is really one of the best at sharing what he knows - about a lot of things photographic and other wise. Les is well aware that digital is not something I am interested in, at least not right now, but that does not keep him from sharing what he know, and it does not keep me from enjoying his digital work.
