Should all government tax-paid photos be easily accessed online via Flickr ?

Would be easy and inexpensive to put it all online, assuming it was respectfully stored digitally

They do put photos on Flickr, right now there's 16,775 photos, I'm sure they have a lot more than that. I'm just waiting for them to slip up and post photos of the Roswell UFO.

Yes, it should all be freely and publicly available on line somewhere...
Whether or not flickr is the right or even an appropriate place, I don't know.

A Flikr resource DOES exist and claims to be growing.....I was waaay wrong...big ignorant OOPS.

A little browsing suggests that most of the images are B&W.

I hope to find that most work of the last few decades was done with Ektachrome E3 / E4/ E6

The free availability of fine photographic images produced for the government is a often overlooked treasure. Compare Timothy O'Sullivan's Ancient Ruins in the Canyon de Chelle, New Mexico with the ones that Ansel Adams took from almost the exact same site almost 70 years later. I like the print from the fairly large digital file downloaded from the Library of Congress more than the reproductions in books of the Adams versions.

and MIT has a gigantic collection too
of boston/cambridge/somerville streetscape
views from the 40s-60s
