Here's the update:

I got a verbal offer last Friday while I was out there and countered today. They accepted my counter and they are sending a formal offer in the next couple of days.

Feeling really good about it all and liked what I saw of central NJ. I want to thank everyone who posted publicly and privately about this move. It was really great to feel the support from my online friends.

The areas I liked (and could afford) are North Brunswick and around Princeton like East Windsor.

I'm able to work from home for a couple of months and will most likely move the end of April or first of May.

Hope to meet some of you East coast appugers soon.

Alan.

Congrats, Alan!

Good luck out there. Sounds to me like they got a good guy.

Matt

NJ

Alan-best of luck to you. Give a shout anytime. My folks live right outside New Brunswick (highland Park) so I'm out there frequently.
Best, Peter

Party!

Sure-let's throw Alan a welcoming party!!Do we really need an excuse but this is as good as any....
Peter

Alan, welcome to New Jersey!

Hope to see you sometime soon, after you have had time to settle down a bit. Getting used to Jersey will take a while though!

Best,

Alan, welcome to Tri-State area. Like Peter suggested, we can have a little gathering after all the dust(re-location) is settled.

Alan

forgive me if I've got this all wrong and it was some other Apugger..........are you or were you at Waterford School in Sandy?

I was there for Tillman Cranes workshop and was in awe of the facitlities they have there. Great people too!

Clayton

Woohoo!

Congratulations! This means you'll be out this way in time for a nice weather/ no Bennies trip to Asbury Park!

Oh yes... Bennies is another NJ term you'll learn REAL quick...

Just make sure Alan, that you Don't move nextdoor to a family in New Jersey called Soprano ! Congratulations on your new job, and best wishes for your move

Ben.

Yes, I was at Waterford for three years. Not with the school proper but with the Waterford Research Institute. I got there just as Tillman was leaving. Bummer.

Congrats!

Welcome to Jerzy, dude!

Like the former governor said:

"New Juhzy and you, puhrfect togethah..."

Now remember:

Real Jersey Guys wear blue (for the Giants), not teal-blue-black-green (for the eagles) and eat subs, not hoagies! Catsup or ketchup can go on your eggs, but not your mashed potatoes...and you really DON'T want to know what scapple is...

When you get here, resist the temptation to drive like a New Yorker (in the left lane) and start using the phrase "you guys or yooz guys".

Did I leave anything out???

Cool! We can go "down the shore" and split a Hoagy :D

Gas stations

Another thing nobody has mentioned so far.... you cannot pump your own gas at the station!

Another thing about "Joizey" that nobody from there has mentioned and I can prove is: All Jerseyites drive on the parkways and turnpikes in packs of 6 or more cars. There will be great distances between these packs of cars but as soon as you settle in at a comfortable speed, you will pick up new friends to drive along side of you for miles and miles.

I never noticed any spaces between the cars. Was it 2am on christmas eve?
