Am not sure which forum this question needs to go, but this seemed most likely.

several weeks ago, i was cleaning up my office and put my IT8 target card from Monaco away for safe keeping. Will now of course i can't find the darn thing  I have spent hours looking for it's safe hiding place.

they are not cheap to replace, but i have a Kodak version and thought i would just use that.

Now i am sitting reading the direction on the user guide with the intent of calabrating my printer  and the guide indicates i should only use the one that came with the software.

anyone one have information that would encourage just using the non-monaco version? :D Will there be that big of difference?

I swear computers are driving me to drink

What software are you using for your printer profiles? If you are using EZColor then it will not work with anything except the Monaco IT8 target*. If you are using Profile Prism, I'm pretty sure you can use any target as long as you have the reference file for that target. The reference file name should be printed on the bottom of your Kodak target. You can download the file from the Kodak FTP or website (if you can find it). If using Profile Prism you can buy new IT8 targets from Wolf Faust for almost nothing, or direct from the Profile Prism website.

* There is a way of getting any IT8 reference file into a format that EZColor can use, but the steps are a little drawn out so it might be easier to just get another target from Xrite. The EZColor ref file first GZipped, and then you need the headers from an EZColor file to copy into the new IT8 ref file, then Gzip the final file back and rename it to be the proper thing the EZColor wants to see. I don't exactly remember all the steps because it has been about 4 years since I discovered how to do it.

I'm really surprised that no one who makes these targets offeres the ref. files in an EZColor format.

I might be nice and lend you mine briefly....

...if you promise not to damage it or lose it, and get it back to me ASAP when soon as your done. It also depends of "physically" where you are located.

I'm not likely to mail it off. I'm in d/t Vancouver.

I'm replying it too.
