I bought a Hasselblad 201F in unknown working condition. I was testing out the winding mechanism without a back on and it turns out I can't actually turn the winding mechanism without using the double exposure button winding knob. Also whenever I hit the shutter release button in "C" mode the lens properly actuates but the shutter curtain does not move as far as I can tell (at any speed).

When I put a magazine on the body (without any film) I can wind the back all the way to the first exposure and actuate properly with the shutter release button. Then the magazine status indicator turns from white to red but then the winding mechanism won't budge and I get stuck.

The other weird thing is that when I turn the winding mechanism it stops just short of where it's supposed to be: notice in the picture how the red dot is in between the two triangles instead of on the big triangle. In order for me to actually fire the shutter I need to push with a little force to get the large triangle aligned with the red dot (which it does with a loudish click):

I'm guessing this is just a mechanical issue, since the battery in the camera seems to be working fine and I'm in "C" mode but I'm wondering if anyone knows what the issue might be and if there's hope for me to get this repaired somehow? My understanding is that the 200 series models are more difficult to repair than the 500 series these days.

It could be a film back problem, a lens cocking problem or a body cocking problem. Do not force anything and take it or send it to a qualified Hasselblad repair place, such as the one in Burbank California. I suggest that you call Hasselblad and ask it they still repair the 200 series or at least that model first, then return the camera if possible.

It appears to be a body cocking problem since the problem exists without the film back or the lens. I'm going to reach out to Hasselblad and any other places that might service this camera but I'm trying to get sense of whether or not this issue is relatively common and then how easy/difficult and how cheap/expensive a repair of this kind might be (admitting of course that it's very difficult to know without having examined the camera in person).

I have the exact same problem with my 203F. Please post any information you get from Hasselblad or elsewhere.
