I have been using BTZS with great results. I am moving to ULF and will be doing tray developing and using the zone system. When doing your light meter readings what effective ISO are you using for FP4 & HP5 in Pyrocat HD 1:1:100? Also what tray development times are effective?
Thanks.

BTZS & the Zone System are effectively almost the same, just two marginally different ways to achieve the control you require over negative exposure & processing so an effective EI for one should be OK for the other in many cases.

I shoot HP5 @ 200 EI processing for 15mins at 20°C in Pyrocat HD 1+1+100, I rarely use FP4 preferring Delta 100 but if I do again 15 mins and EI 64/80.

When I tray process I use Pyrocat at 2+2+100 for 9 minutes at 20°C (or 24°C and adjust the time), I use the stronger working solution/temperature to cut the processing time as I find tray processing tedious.

50 ISO for Pyrocat 1/1/100 in Jobo for me. 1/3 Faster than Rollo Pyro, should that help.

My times for tray developing, shuffling between 4-6 sheets

HP5+ Pyrocat 2:2:100 for silver printing EI 400, 9:15@20C, for alternative processes 11:00@20C for Normal scenes.
FP4+ Pyrocat 2:2:100 for silver EI 125, 9:00@20C, for alternative processes 13:00@20C.

Use these as a starting point, then adjust for your printing methods.

Fred.

My times and EI are much more in line with FredW than the others. I believe the others are over-exposing and under-developing. The lowest EI I ever need to use with FP4+ in Pyrocat HD is 80, 100 is much more normal for me.
