Is this guy a male version of Diane Arbus?

It's definitely dark and surreal. The shots remind me so much of Arbus' photo of the kid with a toy grenade. There's something compelling about Arthur Tress's work.

These are excellent shots. He retains the kids' apparent nightmarish perspective which kids take in their stride but adults worry about - usually without cause. A gnome climbs the stairs or a teddy bear talks when adults aren't around. Taking such pictures nowadays would probably get him arrested as a potential pervert. A sad reflection of the time we live in

I bought his book 'Fantastic Voyage - Photographs 1956-2000' a few years ago and it's a gem. I'll be looking at it again I think!
