yes film costs MONEY but on the other hand, KODAK and ILFORD seem to cost the most in side by side comparisons. Im only a real fan of the c41 process from Ilford, but ARISTA seems to give identical looking negatives to my eyes... and at half the price... so for ME thats a great winner all around.
But a large percentage of the new interest in film is not from a personal standpoint of "damn, i get a great image from film" or even "gee willickers, i just loves me them developing chemicals and that delightful smell... and that wierd skin rash i get everytime i use the original light bulb in my 1930s enlarger"
The large percentage is people wanting popularity and "likes" on their internet photo spots by following the lead of the "true internet photographers" by buying the same film, and same gear.
Why do you think the cost of old cameras has gone up? They arent any more valuable, but when the internet groups espouse a certain make or model of film camera as "this months camera of the TRUE photographer", the price for it will see a a jump of 100-150% the following month.
