Is there a way to lengthen a Hakuba cable release "firing pin"?

A lens that has taken me forever to get a flange for, CLAC the shutter, and mount to a lens board is now finally ready to go! The only problem is that the "firing pin", for lack of a better term, isn't long enough to trip the shutter! It's an Ilex Acme Synchro #3. Watching the lever on the shutter, my release pushes almost far enough to trip the shutter, but not quite far enough. FWIW my release is a fairly short Hakuba that's worked fine for me up 'til now. Is there some sort of mechanism on these that would extend the firing pin further, or do I need to go cable release shopping?

Thanks for the help!

Your safest bet is to buy a new cable release with a longer throw. My Acme Synchro #3 shutter only just fires with one of my cable releases, and the same release won't fire a Prontor Press.

I've been doing some reading and apparently the Linhof releases are well-known for having long throws, and the usual Linhof build quality. I'll just have to suck it up and spend the $35 on a cable release! First though, I'll check with my photo buddies. An interesting work around I've discovered is that when the flash-sync lever is engaged then my release will trip the shutter! It's too short by a millimeter or less otherwise. Thanks for the quick reply Ian!

Hi, I think your shutter may need a little adjustment. I think there is a small cylinder in a tube that pushes on a lever to trip the shutter. It is not too hard to work on, if you have some small screwdrivers.
