Is there a source for battery screw type covers?

So I recently bought a Yashica Electro 35 which is missing its battery cover. Is there a source to buy them?

Over the years I have had this problem a few times, so this is really also a general question about how to replace or make camera battery covers (other than cannibalizing other cameras!)

Is there a proper way to measure these battery covers? For instance, I don't know anything about how to measure for the threads- size or depth, in the case I wanted to ask for something that might fit. Are there a few "standard" sizes which can be considered?

My advice is to check Ebay.
I bought an older Canon SLR that was missing a battery cover...checked Ebay, and voila!
You might also consider posting a WTB ad here...somebody here might have a parts camera they're willing to part out.

Have a machinist make a few spares out of Nickle's or other Nation's brass coins or, silicon bronze.

Measure the inside diameter of the battery opening in millimeters. Next measure the distance between two thread peaks in millimeters.
Metric threading is millimeters per thread. Common thread pitch is .5 mm -fine, .75 mm - coarse, 1 mm - course on large diameters.
The cap for a TL Electro I striped years ago has internal threads, the body has external threads, 17.6mm x .5mm.
A service guide for the Electro 35 shows a screw in cap that will have external threads with the internal threads in the bottom cover.

My source for them is the bottom of rummage boxes. I doubt they are standardized, at least there is no photographic standard. The threads are measured as any thread by diameter, pitch and profile. At least the latter two are likely standard ones, as this is most benefitial in making them or the respective tools.

I don't know how much a Yashica electro is worth. Many people want it so I guess it's worth good money (I personally don't like the automatic only camera). But I think machining a cap would cost a couple of hundred of dollars if not more.

I do not know of respective tools. In regular production these threads are made on a lathe.
Basically one could print a cap in a way that it can be screwd in and out, without having a regular thread, but then its lifetine likely will be limited

It ain’t cheap. But buying a parts camera may be cheaper. Check shopgoodwill too - Electro 35s appear there periodically.
