Is Power Conversion Required?

Hi group, I know this site has a diverse group of users so I thought I would ask a question in hopes of finding an answer.
Is there a difference between the power supplies in Australia and the power supplies in the United States. I live in the U.S. so I know a standard power outlet is 110v -115v. While an electronic device that works in Australia work in the U.S.?

Yes, Australia is on a 220V/50Hz system. Will an electronic device work? It depends upon what type of device you are talking about. My laptop, and video camera work just fine, with just an adapter plug. You would need to check you device to see if it is dual voltage or not (most laptop power supplies are).

The device is a X-Rite Densitometer 861T and I was wanting to purchase it.
Do you think it will work in the US. I looked at the X-rite web site and found nothing about power conversions.

without a transformer it won't (or not for long!)

things like laptops have multi voltage transformers these days so as long as you've got a plug that fits, they'll work. Older laptops might have transformers but they may not be multi voltage. So, you really need to know how the thing is powered.

Every x-rite i have seen uses a ac to dc power converter. Contact them and see if they have a converter for that model for the US.
