Is it possible to get ammonium or potassium dichromate in the UK?

Is there anywhere a non-commercial customer can buy dichromates for gum printing in the UK?

All the places I have tried seem to say no unless you are some sort of commercial company.

Silverprint don't list it either.

Any ideas?

I've seen dichromates on ebay a couple of times, but I'd advise caution if you're think of going that route. There are a few companies that sell to the education sector that will also supply the general public, but in general, dichromates are getting difficult to get hold of. This is thanks to E.U. regulations covering hazardous chemicals rather than any conspiracy against imaginary terrorist groups.

T.R. Bonnymans supplies a range of useful chemicals to the "general" public, and for more specialist items, you could try Abbey Chemicals.

If you're up for a challenge, you could experiment with diazo sensitizing. I believe that is easier to get a hold of in the UK, and indeed it's got a lot of other advantages (non-toxic, and once coated has an exceptional shelf life).
