Ever since the Covid-19 pandemic hit, I have heard nothing about Ferrania P30 film. Since Italy was so hard hit early on, I'm wondering if they're still in business.

Does anyone know?

They still are in business, but because of Covid the workers had to go into quarentine like everyone else. As far as doing any sort of work in the building (making film & getting it shipped out, etc.), I believe theyre limited on what they can do due to them having to get the "go ahead" from the Italian government because they (Italy) was hit pretty hard.

Plus, as far as shipping goes everyone is being effected, so even if they had pallets of film made & ready to be shipped out the shipping delay's would add an extra few weeks to where ever theyre sending it to

Here in the UK, Firstcall Photographic still have stocks -must order some more actually!

It is almost time to expect some word from the factory. They proably don't want to say anything until they are sure that they will not be curtailed again

I'd be more interested to hear the staff are safe and healthy. Is David Bias still with them? If so, don't we say his name three times to invoke him on a thread? lol.

yes he is. I just had an email exchange with him. A fresh batch is headed to the US right now.

That's great news!

Any lab that processes B&W should be able to handle it -- there's nothing very exotic about it. It might be worth asking your regular lab if they have experience with this film, and what developer they'd use on it, since it apparently gives better results in something more akin to D96 than in, say, D76 or Tmax (which are commonly used in commercial labs that handle B&W).

I am also very interested in this film.
Are there labs in continental US, that this can be sent to (I do not do dark room)?

It does not require special handling/processing, so any lab that offers B&W processing services should be able to process P30 for you. I suggest Blue Moon in Portland, Oregon.

if you look at the "best Practices on Ferrania's website, { https://www.filmferrania.com/p30 } they have a list of Labs who have experience with P30. document is on the lower part of the page.

I just received my latest order of the stuff last week so it is shipping.

According to those who have experience with P30 this is far from it. Apparently it does have quirks or results may not be all that good. I have 2 rolls, but am waiting to read more input on processing outcomes. Some are happy many not so much. Unless a lab does have P30 track record, I would not give it to them.

So where is any special offer or discount (or even any email update) for the Kickstarter contributors ? Or have Ferrania now conveniently forgotten who helped them to start out at all ?

Can you provide a link. I don't see a list of labs to process P30.

the web site USED to have a list of recommended labs. you are correct that it does not show on the face of the current site. I have asked the question on their "contact us form"

please read the best practices PDF file. {from the page: 5. Lab processing is ok, tooThe Best Practices document includes recommendations for Lab Processing, as well as extended input from our community. }

in Canada they want a little over 16 dollars for just 1 roll. I might search out USA options. How much does P30 look like Kodak Plus X?

they did answer, they said the list of labs was getting out of date and there was concern about how to add more while being fair to everyone.

I ordered from Fotoimpex a couple of weeks ago as Analogue Wonderland here in the UK were out of stock. A little on the expensive side but I have my four rolls of P30 and sometimes the right weather conditions to use them.

When I shot the Alpha product I shot one at 50ASA and one at 80ASA, processing both in ID-11 I got decent results but better at 50ASA. I am aware ID-11 is not the best developer for this film. Most commercial labs don't use D96 which is the recommended developer. Hopefully Film Ferrania will be able to update their list of recommended labs soon, though the worldwide situation is changing daily in terms of who's open, who's closed due to government restrictions, who's hoping to open soon and who's closed their doors forever.

Regarding Kickstarter rewards, Nicola posted a series of videos at the end of 2019 answering some of the specific questions that people post.
