Hey Paulbarden,
I sent in my $10 this morning.... I will let you know if I get my account activated. I am the one who started this thread because I really think F295 has a lot of information to those that like pinhole shots. There are years of archived photos and info that I'd really like to peruse. I too tried a few times to contact Tom P, but I know that spam can drown out any chance to get an email through. I even asked Nedl to see if he could help, as he's a strong contributor to F295. I'm glad its up and running again!

Thanks for that info. Please let us know how it goes. I'm certainly willing to pay for the membership if it's going to produce results ;-) I'm just hesitant to hand over money to an entity that has shown ZERO responsiveness to all of my inquiries. I think you can understand my reluctance ;-)

10 dollar yes 10 dollar and the unresponsive thieves , life must be very difficult for you. If you care for 10 dollars too much , its easy for you be a thieve at oregon nights. You make 20 dollars per person and even no tax .

My darn Babelfish stopped working again...I can't understand some of these posts...

I've been a member of F295 since the beginning. Went to the first or second F295 conference. I've met Tom in person and he's a swell guy. I'll contact him and alert him to this thread. Anyway, just wanted to post my support for F295. Like APUG, it's a another great place for analog photographers on the net.

Fantastic group of people on the site and lots of great info. People complain and whine about the loss of this brand of film or this darkroom closing, etc, etc. you would think we would all be beating the drum as loud as possible to help and put your money where you mouth is before you let another Analog creation bite the dust.

This morning I decided to sign up for F295.org's forums. I paid the $10.00 activation fee and about 3 hours later I received my username and password in an email. Just though I'd share.

Since you are willing to share your username and password would you please post it?

Registered the other day and got my login info today so all is well at F295

Ok, but can you POST anything to the forum, and can you view member photos? I received a login/password, but my account was NEVER activated to participate.

Yes I can post and yes in the threads I can view the photos that have been posted..

Hi everyone,
I just checked on my account, and yes, it's now up and running. I can view and post. F295 is indeed alive and well. I started this thread to see how I could get access to the wealth of info there... and it looks like success! Thanks Tom! Now I've got TWO forums to sink time!

That's good news. I will probably pay the fee and sign up - again. I admit I was annoyed all over again when this morning, I received an email from Mr. Persinger, asking for more money to support F295, saying:

"We've enjoyed having you as a member of the F295 forum. Thanks for being a part of it!"

Ironic, since my account was never activated and I was allowed to log in, but never able to post or view member photos. That is the kind of user experience all organizations should work to avoid, if they hope to retain their niche audience.

Great!
Yep... I check in here and there almost every day. Hopefully this means f295 will find new life and become more active again.

Not working for me. I tried once again to register and got the message " Sorry, registration has been disabled by the administrator " .

I have tried in the past, always with the same result.

Does anyone know the secret of how to join .

Thanks .... freecitizen

Hi freecitizen. I had this problem 6 months ago, and that's why I started this tread. If you go to the forum main page there's a large banner that says "new account activation". Click on the banner to proceed. To sign up you must pay a $10 fee. Tom did this because he was getting bombarded with spam, and couldn't tell the spam from the legit membership requests.
It's a great site, packed with information on the alternative process and pinhole work. Good luck with it!

f295 is still alive & kicking.

hello bergytone

I did as you suggested, and in trying to register with the payment of $10 .... was presented with a sign-on screen with choice of countries only Canada or USA.

Absolutely no use to me .... I'm in Australia.

Hi freecitizen, if you need help like a us address or a means of paying by us account as an Aussie living over here I'm more than happy to help out. Let me know what you think.

Thankyou for your kind offer Oxleyroad. I have a family member engaged to a lady from the US .... so I could try that I suppose.

I have tried for at least a year, on and off, to register with f295 and hit a brick wall every time. I always got a page saying registrations are closed. Now I'm being told by their website I have to be in North America.

Frankly, when it is made this difficult I lose interest. The message I am getting is they just do not want new members. I don't imagine they are any better than here at APUG ( and LFF too ), and even if they were, they are deliberately inaccessible.

I'll just continue to enjoy APUG .... which I think is excellent.

Just now I tried one last time ....... visited the forum and clicked on a jpg link to a photograph in a post ...... Got the page saying ... you must be registered to view the photo ..........

Clicked on the " register " button and got the message " Sorry, registration has been disabled by the administrator " .

It would behoove Tom to fix or speak decisively to this problem once and for all. f295 is a great site and resource, and this sort of nonsense just turns people off...
