Yes.
In type 135 cameras the film gate was masked to panoramic aspect ratio.
In APS only a hint for the lab was placed on the film. (I would have to look up whether optically or on that magnetic track.) The same time the finder was masked respectively.

IIRC it was on the magnetic track.
If the customers wanted reprints and didn't say what size (C, H, P,) then the printer would print the original size. The printer screen (on Fuji Frontiers) showed the 25 or 40 numbered negs with a C, H, P, along with QTY and the original size highlighted but this could be changed.

I'm currently batch scanning a cartridge of Fuji Nexia 400 which I've developed just a few hours ago. 25 frames in one go with the APS adapter of my DiMage IV.*Thumbs up
