Anyone hear anything from 8 Banners lately?
I have not been able to get a response from anyone over there since the first time I tried around 1/25.
Thanks

Victor

2/11 - more than 2 weeks and no word on my order- I'll keep this thread aware of any changes but it so far doesn't look very good.

Victor,

Thanks for the update. I have been considering purchasing one of their cameras. I hope they come through for you. Has your credit card taken a hit yet?

I've dealt with them more than a year ago, always very prompt to reply. That said I wish you the best of luck with this, hopefully just something wierd has happened.

Have you checked ebay to see if they have anything listed? I'll have to try and remember the user name, if I do I'll post it for you.

Hi Vic - For manufacturers the New Year celebration can be a lights out/dark factory affair so I would give it some time before getting too concerned.

A good friend of mine works in the fashion industry. Apparently China literally just shuts down entirely for a couple of weeks for New Years. Large factories don't have anyone answering phones, etc. I'd still give it little time.

The website thing does give me a little pause, but if there was a problem, their IT guy probably isn't working either.

Thanks Terence.
Interesting. Akin to ordering a leather coach from Italy in August then?
I hope this is the case but I ordered 1/27 which was well before New Years.
There was no indication of any break on their website that stated delivery would be made in 4 days -10 days and I'm leaving for my trip Monday.
Even if I get my camera it sort of sucks.

That's too bad. I was looking at their new shutter and turret which could be nice to have. Guess I'll stop thinking about it for a while.

Just for fun I decided to check and see if their domain name had expired, and it has not (yet). It's good until this summer.

Not much real info in this because they opted for some sort of privacy guard with registration, so not really any help.

Well the website connects again, but it is showing an Apache test page but at least the DNS points to somewhere now. You might want to send them another email and see what's up.

Few days ago, the website loaded (same content) but without the CSS stylesheet, which mean only text.
Guess there slowly working their way to put it back online...

Thanks Greg. I received a refund via Paypal dispute resolution this afternoon.
I never heard a word back from 8banners in the nearly 7 weeks since I had ordered.
My zero image 6x9 is beautiful but I was really psyched for the 6x12 turret camera.

The turret shutter still seems like a cool idea, but I think I'll wait a while for them to get rebuilt. I'm doing some testing with a new rig based on using extension tubes on my Mamiya 645 cameras. Buy changing the number of tubes I can change from 64mm out to 145mm right now, and additional tubes are pretty cheap. I'm not really moved by the wide and super wide angles of most pinhole cameras. The new rig just has a pinhole taped to a body cap and it may or may not every change since tape is cheap. The turret would be cool though if I ever make a new "body" for a camera.
