Sorry for the lame-o question...

With all the early emails going back and forth about dates, it isn't really clear to me when this is. March what...

And will I definitely need a 4wd? An old beat up one?

Lee - Yep. Been here for 3 years now. Had to dry out after living in Seattle most of my life.

Which has been hard this last week because of the rain....

Good for the wild flowers though.

David - Road-wise high clearance is really more important than 4WD, although I have never used the road without being in 4-Hi. Of course I use 4-Hi as simply a precaution and as a way to give the transfer box and front axles a workout after having been sitting idle for weeks on end. Driving there I have never really hit anything that bad. In fact my Jeep is low-end stock. The small tires, no lockers, standard 2.5L engine, etc. Never had a problem. Most trucks could probably do fine out there.

I alos have room in my Jeep for a couple of people. Sort of depends on the gear they bring. If one passanger has a 7x20 Corona with tripod and 20 holders, then it gets a bit tight....

I have a high rise Dodge Ram 4 wheel drive. 16" tires and a large foot print. I have never had the truck in 4 HI but think I will to do like you say to give it a workout. I lived in Seattle nearly 30 years ago. Moved to LA and the wife hated it so we moved home. Been here ever since. I loved Seattle then. It was before the big MS boom. I never thought of it as drying out. The guy I will stay with I met in Ft Worth then he moved to Page, AZ and then up to Washington state just south and east of Seattle. He is from Sandy Waygo originally and it was too damp for his wife and him. So, they up and moved to Tucson. He keeps a Mac network up and running at an elementry school there in town and his wife is a book editor and does everythjing on line and with emails and can live anywhere.

coolpix6 sent me an email once before I knew who it is and the title of the message was "It's a small world but I would not want to paint it." That applies here I think.

Robert Kennedy,
We need to set a time and place to meet for the trip into Ironwood National Monument. I will be on the road after 2/27/03 so I need to know when and where before then. Is there a Denny's that I can find. I will have a green Dodge Ram truck that sits up high and if I am out of it look for a brown cowboy hat and that will likely be me. I also have a mustache.

There are plenty of Denny's around here. How about the one on the corner of River Rd. and Oracle Rd.? Not super close to Ironwood, but I know where it is and it is easy to find.

As to time, I'll let that be up to the participants. Of course earlier is always better since we have to allow for travel time.

Robert,
Thanks for answering. I found the Denny's location. We will be up North a little ways near Thorndale and W. Lambert. I suggest that we meet at about 6 am. That will give us travel time and it will be light by the time we get there Ok?

O.k. So the 8th it is at 6am at the Dennys on the corner of Oracle and River.

I will be in a red Jeep Wrangler with chrome mirrors and trim and a large red dog in the passengers seat.

Looking forward to meeting you and am getting excited as we have the ground covered with ice and sleet and snow today and maybe more tonight. Right now it is 24f. This up from a low of 18f this morning. Burrrrr!

David, are you coming? I hope so. Anyone else that can make it is welcome I am sure. I am bringing a couple of extra guys. Friends I have photographed with before. I would suggest that we bring a portfolio to show while we are not photographing. Any interest???

Well, the trip went well, even if there weren't many blloming wildflowers (in two weeks though its hould be amazing!), but Lee and his friend Frank and I found some good stuff out there. I'll update more once I am more awake (that 6:00am start time killed me).

BTW - AGGIE!!! They got the meter safe and sound and it was really fun to work with. Nice piece of equipment!
