Hi All

Met a few of you when I came along to the print showing with Diz in April, Some class stuff on show Lads

The hopeful bit is of taking a decent photo, developing and printing it to a reasonable quality It's all new and am hoping to get a darkroom up & running soon

Thanks to Diz for his patience & guidance so far

look forward to contributing & learning

Warren

That's great Warren it's always good to have new members in our group, as it adds to the variety of work to be seen. Look forward to seeing you at our next get together.

Hello! My name is Phil. I did one of TheFizz' workshops on printing and 35mm development a few years ago. I've been on and off with photography ever since. I spent the last few days looking over my past photographs and I think I finally figured out what I want to shoot. I posted on image in particular (that I was 50/50 about at the time) online and it's had the best reaction from the general public of anything I've posted, and that's really encouraged me. I'm thinking of getting a few of my photos printed off now (digital prints as I just don't have the time or money for dark room work.) I plan on getting one printed as a fine art print as a present for someone, and the rest will be just for hanging around my apartment.

I'm based in Cork. I'm also lacking a car (or the ability to drive one) so most of my photography is from walking around the city. I think I'm finally at a point where I'm ready to show off my photos to other people. :D

Hi everyone. I'm Michael and I've been lurking on APUG on and off for a while. I only discovered this evening that there are regional groups within APUG with one for Ireland! So I thought I should introduce myself.

I'm from Co. Down, been shooting mostly film for about 3 years now, and teaching myself to print in my own 'darkroom' for a few years. Not very successfully, so I've signed up for Alan Ross's darkroom course in Dublin this July. Very exciting!

I use a mixture of medium format (Mamiya 645/Holga) and 35mm film (Olympus & Canon), mostly B&W but I've been dabbling in C41 recently too.

Nice to know there's a bit of film photography action on the home turf.

Hi Michael,

you're very welcome indeed!! I'll look forward to meeting you at the Alan Ross workshop....

Why don't you think about coming along to the print showing in (what looks like) june? Very informal, very friendly and in my case at least I learn loads at every visit. There's a thread on this page for it....

I might well do. I didn't see on the thread the location of the show.

Welcome, Michael! If you have a chance to attend the print showing with some of the prints you are planning to bring to Alan's workshop it might be a good way to get some early feedback. I've always found the group to be very friendly and helpful, getting plenty of ideas how to improve my work.

Hi Folks,

I'm returning to film after a few years off.

This is kind of inspired by my seventeen year old nephew expressing an interest in "real" photography.

So I dug out a FM2n and 24/50/85 for him to try out. A little back up system I put together maybe ten years ago. Perfect to get him going...

Of course I also pulled out my OM system and Rolleiflex to show him.

I have hundreds of shots of him since he was tiny, so our first project is to reshoot some of these images with him.

Since running costs will be an issue I'm planning on setting up a darkroom. Researching this led me to APUG.

I scanned the introduction thread and it seems that I'm the fourth Bray resident:smile:

Take care..

Hi,

Thanks for the warm welcome!

A trip into Wexford Street is planned for Monday morning. Hopefully the two weeks before school starts will be enough time to teach him the basics.

Take care...

Hi all.

I would like to introduce you all to a little known place called Donegal (yes there is life north of Galway).

Am I really the only APUG (Ireland) member in this part of the world?

Having met Peter (thef***) many times, I can't help but feel there must be more to life.

Please reach out to your remote colonies and show me that I am not alone.

Best wishes to all.

Michael
