Hi, everybody!
I suppose I should have done this first instead of posting two queries on the forums, but I didn't see this forum until later.
Anyhow, I am glad to have found this site, since I really enjoy film, and I'm not at all ready to move to d*g*t*l because I enjoy my film cameras, I have fun with them, the Bessa R is really light and nifty (my first range finder camera) and I can work with MF and Lf, also, which I can't do in d*g*t*l. There are far more positives for me in film; don't mean to sound too negative about digital.
I have been taking photos off and on for over 50 years. My first real camera was a Polaroid, the old model 95(?). My first 35 mm camera was and still is a Canon AE-1. It's my B&W SLR camera. Then I got a Nikon N-80, which I really enjoy, and a Mamiya 645 Pro. The next one up was the Bessa R and a f2.8 35 mm lens, in Leica screw mount. I also have a LF camera, of uncertain vintage: It's a T.O. Warfield field camera, cherry wood and brass fittings, with a Grafex 135 mm Optar.
I am the family photographer, and I enjoy documentary-style work and whatever else catches my eye. I'm planning to do a series on abandoned houses here in Buckingham County, Virginia, where I live, and also document some of my new hometown, Dillwyn, Virginia. (it's not on any map; real places never are.)
I also enjoy music. Making my own music, that is. I'm taking guitar lessons and I've started back playing my Highland pipes. (Since I live in the woods, want to take advantage of it.)
I'm retired, 66 years old, and I carry my camera with me wherever I go. It's like a piece of jewelry, I suppose.
