OK, not sure if this will be a thread that gets a lot of posts... but maybe! But I ran across an funny sight in an ancient Cirkut photo that was online and just had to share it.

The City of Vancouver has scanned in all nearly-400 W.J. Moore Cirkut negatives that were donated to them, at quite high resolution.

Here is the picture in question:

In my browser, that starts out shrunk-to-fit in my browser window. But if you click on it, it expands to full resolution, so you can only see a tiny bit of it, but you can see the amazing detail in those little bits! And I spotted a really funny sight way off to the left - screen capture here:

I do believe those are the cases from which he unpacked his Cirkut camera and tripod! (It was an 8" model.) Seems like the Cirkut equivalent of a photographer getting his feet in the picture ;-)

I would love there were such historic photographs of my surrounding.

OK this seems to have been kind of a thing with W. J. Moore. Here are all the ones I could spot while perusing the collection. Now to be perfectly fair, these are scans of the full negatives. The ones on the extreme edges were probably going to be cropped out when the negative was printed. But some of them were definitely going to be in the picture. The most amazing one is the one where the case is, to my eye, the focal point of the picture! It could have been titled "Panoramic Still Life: Cirkut Case Contemplates Its Existence While Standing On A Lonely Beach" I almost expected to eventually see one where the cases did a pizza run and end up on both sides of a picture

Funny, or weird.

Casings etc. would get into the picture by accident after repositioning the tripod.

These are great - thanks for bringing them to our attention.
I love the old Cirkut photos. I have one of my Dad's senior trip group to Washington, D.C.. A couple of the guys are at both ends of the group. That seemed to be popular. You would be at the beginning end and when the camera swung, you would duck down and run to the other end. I'm surprised my Dad didn't do that as he was always up to mischief (not bad, just fun).

You usually had time to walk behind the camera.
