Insurance for wedding photography?

Who do you use for insurance for wedding photography?
How much is the going rate?

Well, that would depend on what type of insurance you require, public indemnity, professional indemnity, etc.

Your tag line says Indian Wedding Photographer so I can only assume you are from India. Since insurance rates differ from country to country, maybe some of your country colleagues could answer it.

7 years ago I paid €500 for a year cover with €2 million public indemnity and €500K professional indemnity, but that was for my country Ireland.

I know some hotels and wedding venues will not allow a photographer onsite without public insurance. I suppose some countries are more litigious than others.

We don't really have any sub-forums that are set up to deal with these sort of issues for commercial photographers. The Industry News sub-forum certainly isn't appropriate.
It is a really awkward fit, but I've moved this to the Presentation and Marketing sub-forum.
And yes, you do need to specify which market or markets you are working in, because insurance issues are market dependent.

Thanks! I have paid around $50 USD/year. So similar.

If you are doing any commercial work or even work that could be construed as such, liability and equipment insurance is surprisingly inexpensive and nice to have. FYI, in the US, www.ppa.com has a good policy for not a lot of money, about $500/year.

Are you happy with PPA insurance? How do you get COI when you need it for work? Thanks!

Hi haring, it’s been awhile since I had it. It was very easy to get bound as I recall. I think a certificate of insurance was simply filling out a form online to email it to the party requesting it- but you should look it up to confirm. The PPA insurance seemed fine and no one had any trouble accepting it, but I never had a claim either.
I used to rent movie equipment, the COI request was always part of the transaction- the insurance companies expect it.
