Clone and Heal---those are in Lightroom, no?
And a few others - I mostly use FastStone Image viewer, or Corel's Paintshop Pro.

Learn to love that clone stamp tool (in PS) !
I have a Plustek 7200 and upgraded to a 7600i when the 7200 would no longer run on the newer version of Windows. I still only have Silverfast AI 6 which does not run on Win10. Vuescan has a driver for the 7600 but not the version of the 7200 I have.
I occasionally blow out the scanner with caned air while holding the doors on the scanner open.
Software updates/upgrades are a PITA.

Thanks. I was wondering about the dust particles that get stuck INSIDE the scanner--this addressed that: "occasionally blow out the scanner with caned air while holding the doors on the scanner open."

Looks like i'll need to buy some more supplies---canned air (I think I'm out), camel haired brush, microfiber cloth, rocket air blower?, maybe cotton gloves (mine are nylon).

Thanks. "Corel"--didn't know that was still around---I used to love CorelDraw! back in the day---it was one of my favorite programs.

Cotton for film handling, no static.
Wash your hands with dish detergent just before scanning and handle the film by the edges only without gloves works well also.

Ok thanks. I knew something didn't feel right when I got the nylon ones!

CorelDraw is still around, as is WordPerfect and a few other Corel products - still proudly Canadian!

Hmmmm that good to know. I have Illustrator, but never learned it to the extent I did CorelDraw----if the need arises, I may get CorelDraw over struggling with Illustrator!

FYI, he latest versions of VueScan have built-in drivers for all the Plustek 7000-8000 scanners.
I recently, went through the new SilverFast installation process for a 8200i on a Mac with no CD drive. The process was about as non-intuitive as the software itself.
Once you figure out how to configure SilverFast, it does a good job of scanning color materials. I have struggled at times with dense B&W negatives and use VueScan for B&W (although there may be some way of configuring SilverFast to acheive better results, but I can't find it. Both programs have poor outdated documentation

I have a Plustek 7200. I'm running Windows 10 Pro. My 7200 will not run with the current version of Vuescan. I contacted Viuescan support and was told there were two versions of the 7200 and they did not have a driver for the version I have yet but were working on it.

There are two versions of the 7200, and we're still actively working on getting VueScan working with the one you have. Regards, Ed Hamrick -----Original Message

Thanks. Yeah, the silverfast install was insane.....re the VueScan---for B&W---are you using the $49 version or the full $99 one? 80% of my photos for the project I'm working on are B&W, so its disappointing to hear that silverfast may not be optimal. I have yet to do some massive tests with it!--but even if I get a 'good' result, knowing that there is possibly better out there will eat at me....

Thanks. That's interesting and seemingly unnecessarily complicated--using the same model name (7200) for two different scanners. Also interesting that the vuescan's website doesn't list which scanners it works with---I just looked for the Plustek 8200i AI---and found that it didn't list any scanner model. But at least it is free to try.

I use the professional version of VueScan (I first purchased this when moving from a PowerPC Mac to an Intel Mac so it has been a while). I had some difficulty scanning B&W with SilverFast on some fairly dense negatives. I'm sure there is probably some way to work around this, but my images kept coming out with a high key look. Since I already had VueScan on my computer, it was easier for me just to use that program.

The way I can work around this issue with SilverFast is to scan it as a "raw" image and invert and adjust levels in PhotoShop. Unfortunately, SilverFast does not come with any useful documentation. I'm sure with a little effort, you can find settings that work for you.

Thanks. I'll play around with it and if I can't get things to look right with the current version of silverfast, I guess, I'll bit the bullet and spend more cash for VueScan. Thanks for the insight.
