in line thermometer

Back in my formal darkroom days I had a simple in line thermometer - screwed onto the faucet (hose thread), had stem thermometer insert, then hose thread exit. Didn't control temp just read it. Very valuable in the manner in which I work.

Stepping back into film development but can not find such a simple device anywhere. Can anyone offer a source ?

I have a Tel-Tru unit, which is the best unit I've ever seen and used. It is always giving a correct reading no matter which angle you are looking at the dial, hence their name.

In another life we used these units on every darkroom sink, made life so easy. I have had mine (pictured) for around 32-33 years; it's never missed a beat. These are still available in Australia, so I would suggest they are still being manufactured in the USA.

The one I got a few years ago from BH did not come with a thermometer which I had to purchase separately. Did you try BH?

It's called a "flo-temp" it can use thermometers like Weston.

Buy one of the better digital thermometers with cable sensor and glue the sensor to the tube or fitting.

I did some more looking at my records, it seems my unit has a 63.5mm deep sensor. I found a bit of old industrial darkroom plumbing that I had lying around at the time, the chrome bit in the picture, is perfect for holding a Tel-Tru thermometer for one of our roller transport processors.

With the 63.5mm probe length, the sweet spot of the sensor is perfectly placed to get quick and accurate measurements. These type of units are terrific as they pretty much stay accurate, can be adjusted/calibrated with an Allan Key and require no batteries or anything else.

I've got something similar to what Mick is using, mine are branded Kodak, probably made by Tel-Tru these things are bulletproof. In the US these things show up on Ebay. Where I got these

Is this the one you are looking for. I have had this one for 35 years and it works great for monitoring temperatures. I haven't seen one on years in any camera stores.
