HI

i am using a canon 5d mk II and have started using the phase one capture one pro for editing my images, after editing wen i finally process my images into TIFF or Digital negatives and preview it or even open it in photoshop CS4 i loose a huge amount of clarity and sharpness.

When i view the original image (raw) on capture one pro its crystal clear with all details but after i process its gone.

Could someone please help me to get the same clarity ?

Something sounds really wrong here.

I use Capture One Pro now instead of ACR for RAW processing and the results are nothing but great, but I'm not processing 5DMkII files. Have you got the latest update for C1?

My approach and experience is based on working with individual images not groups.

In a nutshell, I do not sharpen or use NR inside of C1P. I use other tools to do capture sharpening and NR after the conversion to PS. That sounds weird I know but it's the way my work flow has evolved these days.

Anyway, I perform color and density corrections inside of C1P and I also apply the film curve preset for contrast adjustment. Bump clarity as needed or desired.

Going into a full blown tutorial would be difficult here. My advice is to make simple adjustments and then process the RAW file to try and pinpoint the problems you are having.

I also set output scaling inside of C1P. So if I want to make a 10 x 15 inch print @ 360 dpi that's what I set in C1P.

I follow a similar process to Don with the exception of sharpening where I do apply a small amount of sharpening during conversion. My scaling is performed post conversion using Genuine Fractals.

Do you get similarly poor results when converting to TIFF from ACR?

Silly question but have you checked the Output options in Capture One?
