Lucked into a large jug of Ilfotec DD (not DD-x). This is the developer intended for machine processing using a "starter" and at 75 deg F but the data sheet gives times for use without the starter and at other temps.

I have no idea how old the developer is or what it's expiration is - just have a lot number. But it must be pretty old since I suspect it came from a lab that closed many years ago. None the less, it seems to work well. The attached example is a scan from 35mm HP-5+ shot with a Canon P and Jupiter-8. It was an overcast day so a bit low on contrast. Perhaps a bit more grain than I might expect (even from HP-5).

I tend to get grain w/ HP5, and/or blown highlights (using D76). Obviously I'm doing something wrong, but switching back to Tri-X solved both issues. That's attractive grain though, and not what mine looked like. Yours is sort of Rodinal-Lite. You may be on to something there. If that's just a neg scan, the print may not show much of the grain.

Wow, I like the grain pattern! Very nice. It doesn't put me off like some grain does.

Edit: Umm... I just noticed this is in the color forum. Or maybe I've had too much coffee........

Or maybe I didn't have enough coffee. I'll ask moderator to make the switch. Thanks.

Thread moved.

And a Tri-x example (expired but cold stored).
