I use Ilfords fixing method for FB paper, i.e. one minute at film strength.

How long or how many 10x8 prints can I expect to get from 1000ml before I need to mix up some fresh fix?

40 sheels of 8x10 per liter for Ilford Rapid Fixer, according to the fact sheet.

Interestingly that number is the same for 1+4 and 1+9 so it's clearly about build-up of waste compounds and not about expending the active chemicals in the solution.

And, this explains why Fixer could be made to last longer if you're rinsing all contaminants off the print (developer, stop) before going into the Fix. I read about this on on Lloyd Erlick's site. One of his articles is linked here http://www.heylloyd.com/technicl/acid_free.htm

I found lots of interesting information in his tech articles.
