Ilford SFX 200 EI and development suggestions

This weekend I'm going to shoot my first rolls (135 and 120) of SFX 200. Can anybody suggest an appropriate EI and developer? Unfortunately there is no time left for testing. I intend to use a dark red filter.

I use EI 160 and the TTL meter, Rodinal or D-76 according to the Massive Dev. Chart. Lots of info on this already if you care to search.

Sorry Jim, but I didn't get any matches neither in Threads nor Posts. I tried 'SFX 200' and Ilford 'SFX 200'.
But your advice matches my conditions. I use to take Rodinal (with APX 100) as developer.

I've only shot a few rolls and it was at box speed.

For the last roll I used replenished Xtol where I had to guess at the time because the Xtol wasn't yet fully seasoned/stable, plus no times were listed that I could find for this combo, and I had to adjust for warmer than normal chemicals with a less than perfect thermometer.

Came out great. I have no doubt that the ID-11 I used to use could do just fine too.

Your biggest challenge will be correcting your exposure for your filter.

There really isn't a standard EI for infrared film, it depends on the amount of IR in the atmosphere. I shoot my initial shot at 200 (TTL metering, so about 50 in reality with a red 25 filter) then bracket, usually +1, rarely -1. Development in Tetenal Neofin Blue for 5 minutes produces the best results for me - continuous slow agitation. I've also had good though more grainly results for Paterson FX39.

SFX is not an IR film, but an extended red one. It will give you some IR look with an IR filter (I forget the #'s). You may want to get one to use with your SFX. Without an IR filter, SFX behaves like an ordinary b/w film. As SFX is rather pricey, do you want to use it with only a red filter when you might get the same effect with HP-5? You may get a small amount of IR look, I'm not sure on this, tho'.

I use a 'red filter' (no. 25), shoot at EI 40. I then develop at 18 minutes in HC-110h. There is less IR effect with the red filter (sometimes none), I use another film for IR:

Rate at box, without filter, then open up by however many stops the filter factor is. (R72, or the SFX filter is +4 stops)
