Looking around my wardrobe... chest sizes are: Medium = 38"-40" [98-102cm] and Large = 41"-43" [104-109cm] in UK sizes but I've no idea if the Ilford shirts follow that scheme [when I just ordered the lady said they were UK sizes, but you may want to confirm...].

Cheers, Bob.

I've added an update with the URL for obtaining the shirts to the top of the thread.

Bob, when I was speaking to the Ilford lady I was informed that the lady in the picture is wearing a medium shirt.

I was given a measurement in inches as they had just measured an XXL shirt, but I was a bit iffy on my conversion to cm, I think.

If my XL shirt doesn't fit, I'll throw it into a dish of fixer and give it the old stretch or two:smile:

What a night, first a total eclipse of the moon, with clear sky, followed by a sauna then topped off with a phone call to sunny England for a shirt!

Mick.

D*mn - I can't call international from this rig.

Me too--I tried to call and was told I didn't have international service. Had the phone for nine months and this is how I find out?

I just ordered and was told they are UK sizes (forgot about metric: medium=98-102cm and large=104-109cm - don't have any other sizes available so can't help there...).

I hope the shoot went well for you (the sauna, I prefer to not think about too closely...)

Cheers, Bob.

You're almost right Mick.
I hate to tell you though, but you're wrong about the sun... It's currently boycotting the UK :D

Yay! Ordered mine. I also had to add international service on my cell - that's why the busy signal earlier.
Since I don't care if it's too big, I ordered a medium rugby shirt. Rather have too big than too small and I can wear it over something for more warmth.
Now I just have to wait a month for it to get here.

To add to Bob's sizes -- XL is usually 44 - 46in (about 110cm - 116cm). Though I'm a 42in chest but I tend to go for XL in case of shrinkage and because I prefer my shirts loose!

This "event" is somewhat disappointing. First of all, they aren't really "T-shirts", and secondly, why no internet ordering capacity?

I ordered a Medium, hopefully it will fit. Wasn't a problem to phone, I got through on the first try.

I have to agree. I find the phone ordering, no Paypal and minimal sizing info a bit disappointing. The embroidery is also a bit too shy to my taste. My decision is pending.

The quotation marks around 'T-Shirts' in the header were a bit of a giveaway on that topic -- and they had been announced some time before as polo shirts and rugger shirts, not T-shirts.

Simon;

If you folks do this again what are the chances that you'll take Paypal, or some other non-plastic form of payment? I don't do credit cards.

Dear All,

Firstly, sorry about the sizing information ( inches etc ) we should have that on the website tomorrow, as to payment systems and ordering by e.mail, we are not a retailer, we do not sell to the general public, we are a photo manufacturing company so our capability is limited, we are doing this for Apuggers : I guess we could take a cheque, I am sure our staff will help in anyway they can.

If you are doing it for Apuggers, then why did you ignore the clamor for t-shirts?

Why not just put a logo up on Cafe Press and let me get what I want to wear...and order it the way I prefer to order it.

Someone in your orginazation is really squeamish about your precious image being sullied by us horrid t-shirt wearers, eh?

Simon,
I love the logo, the shirts are exactly as I expected, and the price is better than I expected. I will be getting one each (after spousal authorization).

Thank you very much!

Jstraw there was a long thread where the shirts were discussed and these styles announced-- Don't tell me there is actually a thread you haven't posted in -- there were at least as many against tee's as there were for and at the end of the day Ilford will decide where their logo will appear. Cafe press is far lower quality and I’m glad that Ilford avoided that route.

As the saying goes no good deed shall go unpunished...

Thank you Ilford and Simon! As soon as I can get hold of a phone card I'll order one of each! You went through a lot of trouble to get this out to us Ilford lovers. You guys are awesome!

I was hoping for an online order system too, but since this is the case, making an international call to the UK isn't so hard with an international calling card. Thanks, Simon and everyone else at Ilford Photo for making this possible!

Simon can take it. He's here as a representative of a company that chooses to have a human point of contact with a portion of it's customer base. Punishment? I doubt that. I'm speaking to a company as one of its customers and expressing my preference.

While I do recall that plenty of people requested items other than t-shirts (including coffee mugs), my memory is that the clamor was for t-shirts and that as soon as Simon announced the corporate ruling, the disappointmet was palpable.

I don't like it but I think I understand it. I see no reason not to reiturate that some of really do want a t-shirt and really do want to be able to order online.

Got mine, hopefully the XL will be correct for me.

Kevin, what size did you order?

Mick.

I ordered one rugby and two polos, all medium, on my Diners. But they called me back and advised that they didn't take Diners, so then I asked about the sizes. The very helpful lady (Helen?) opened one of each and said that the rugbies are very generously sized, so I got a medium rugby and large polos. I must say I was very impressed with the helpful service and the fact that they actually called me back.
