Dear CGW....

The HARMAN Titan pinhole camera is now in full production !

I will be in a position to release full details including availability dates early next week, I was fortuanate enough to have a go with one last week and I have to say it was a lot of fun...

This was the response I got last Monday from Ilford(9/12/11)

Stay tuned...

Good. Anything to encourage the use of film has to be positive.

Er, there's no film with Ilford's direct positive paper in their 4x5 pinhole....

Dang! 150 pounds for a pinhole camera? it would be easier to buy a junky press cam - the extra advantage being a nearly infinite number of focal lengths - not just two.

I think lomography just got one-upped. lol Then again it does come with a spirit level......

There's a video somewhere on this website of the camera at Focus on Imaging.

Ian

The video isn't any more revealing than the OP's linked press release. Haven't seen any sample photos on Ilford's direct positive paper from the new pinhole, either. Soon, perhaps?

this is great !
i hope it does very well and hopefully pulls some of the hipsters from the lomo crowd to start using dp paper too ...

Depending on its reception, this could grow into a budget "system" camera(or cameras) in different formats. It can't get too pricey, though, unless Walker/Harmon are prepared to battle knock-offs. Very cool product concept.

Do you think the pinhole size is the same for film and positive paper? my fuzzy logic says it is but I want to be sure and ask the real experts here ;-)

The kit comes with both paper and film!
You also have to provide the 5X4 film holder.
FWIW. the idea of swapping the cones is pretty slick.
The article also said that Walker designed it, not that he's producing it.

What Ilford needs now is to make a monobath process kit to go with this. Almost-instant photography.

According to the article cited:

"The pack comes supplied with 10 sheets of 5x4in Harman Direct Positive photographic paper and 10 sheets of 5x4in Ilford Delta 100 Professional film."

Dear Romary,

A new Sportsman....I do not think so:

The new PINHOLE Camera is the HARMAN Titan:

In the kit is both film and direct positive paper, I have used one the prototypes and it is really a quality product, really nice to hold and look at... and I have to say I have not done any pinholes since I was kid and I really enjoyed using it.

I will post more information this week, launch dates etc.

Do not worry, I never believed you will launch a new sportsman. That was a kind of dream. :whistling:

I've got an old one you can have.

Steve.

It doesn't rely solely on film to make an image as I said. That's the point of direct positive paper.
