For the rest of the World : We have further promo packs based on MULTIGRADE IV RC Gloss and Pearl, this time in 17.8cm x 24cm and 20.3cm x 25.4cm ( 10" x 8" ) Boxes of 100 come with an additional 20 sheets free of charge ( 120 sheets total ) and packets of 25 come with an additional 10 sheets ( 35 sheets total ).

Thanks for the heads up on this offer. And not a moment too soon as my stocks of MG IV RC are running low...and I use quite a bit of HP5+ in 35mm so the three rolls will come in handy!

How can those of us who don't have a local distributor take advantage of this offer? There are no photo stores within over 100 miles of here, and even at that, they likely wouldn't carry professional supplies. I usually buy mail order from B&H.

Simon, is there any chance of getting the paper+film promo packs shipped to the Australian distributor? I'm about to send an email out to the Aus retailers and the film option seems a nice sweetener that I could entice them with.

Peter, don't hold your breath. Last week I waited in my local photo store for an order to be unpacked that had just come in from the newish Australian Distributor, CR Kennedy.

I was after some 8x10" MGIV Pearl paper in 100 sheet boxes. Well the boxes that were delivered, were a promotion from quite some time ago and were 110 sheet boxes. The boxes were marked as being manufactured by Ilford, not Harmon.

This means that in this country it appears that there are bucket loads of old 8x10" paper hanging around.

I was literally laughed at, when I finally got onto the Ilford fella at CR Kennedy when enquiring about Postcard stock. I ended up buying Postcard stock from Germany, not really a great situation for Harmon in the UK who make a great range of products but would appear to be at the mercy of the distributor here.

Vanbar in their North Melbourne store, have almost all of the Ilford paper range on pallet loads, for you to pick and choose. If any dealer is going to stock this stuff, (and why wouldn't they) they would be my first port of call.

Thank you for that information Simon, I'll be buying a few boxes of this.

Looking at the different promotions, and I know it's hard to make things equal in the international market. The extra 20 sheets equals 20% extra paper @ $118.80 a box of 100 that is a gift of $23.76 not too bad a promotion.

In some ways I think the extra paper is better than the rolls of film, even though 3 rolls of HP5+ costs $31.95 here, which on a bottom line basis is better value.

Agreed. I have bought a number of the 25 sheet promo packs locally, but the HP5 sits in the freezer for quite a while before getting used. I'd personally prefer more paper or a different film. I'm much more inclined to shoot Pan-F, Delta 100 or FP4. All are terrific films, I just prefer the slower, finer-grained emulsions.

Simon, Thanks for being an involved member of the B&W community. Very refreshing for a manufacturer to be so closely involved with its consumer in this day and age.

Yup, gimme the extra paper any day - I only use 35mm once in a blue moon these days, though I do tend to use HP5+ or Delta 400 when I do.

Mick: don't let Ilford's warehouse manager hear about those pallets - on the Ilford tour he made a point of the cost of using plastic pallets for exporting to downunder Vs wood for everywhere else Having said that, the thought of being able to walk in to a local photo store and sort through pallet loads of Ilford makes me very envious!
