(suggests) ... The Bull's Head ... The Pevril on the Peak ... Cask ... Live Bait ... Rusholme curry mile ... Yang Sing ...
Thank you. With this and some other suggestions from friends, I think I will have quite an enjoyable weekend.

They would have to shoot it in the dark!

Steve.

Not if they used an image intensifier (possibly with infrared lamps)...
I have built an intensifier module for my EOS cameras.
It's an ex-MOD intensifier, mounted into a tube with an EOS female bayonet at one end and it has an old slide copier as a relay lens. Add a T mount adapter, et voila - one image intensifier that will fit almost any 35mm camera

Something like this can easily be fitted to a DV camera without the use of a relay lens, or a full size ENG/EFP camera with one.

No good for SFX of course, but for almost everything else, perfectly usable footage. Intercut with other shots, this could make a riveting programme.

It is - a film making rivets!
Or should that be a rivet making film
or..... a film about film making in a film making factory - plus bonus feature: the making of a film about film making in a film making factory
That sentence contains too many instances of "Film" and "making" :D

Oh, heck with it.
The point is, I have the gear sitting on my shelf to do it.
Thus, I deduce it is possible to record video in a darkroom, as long as I can use either safelights or IR illumination

Simon,

Do you have a very rough guesstimate of what time we might finish? I'm just trying to work out if I can make the evening racing at Uttoxeter afterwards <grin>.

Simon
Right at the beginning of the process to arrange the visit I booked a place by email with details requested. I hope it reached you.
Could you advise who is booked in for the visit see I can check whether my reservation got to you?
Cheers
Jeff

Perhaps this is best addressed to those who attended the factory tour last year, or maybe Simon R Galley: Is it practical to take a camera for photos of the building exterior etc?

Bring a coat or an umbrella. The previous tour required a bit of walking between factory buildings.

Thanks Magnus/Simon - I did look through the thread before asking, honest, but obviously missed that! D'oh...

Anyway, looking forward to it very much . (Although if that weather forecast is right, I might forget about the racing at Uttoxeter .)

We'll be arriving tomorrow.

With a few hours to spare, and a rental car at our disposal, does anybody have some nice suggestions for a short "outdoor experience"? I see Peak District is quite close by, but I'm baffled by the size of it -- with only a few hours time, it will be difficult to make the right choice.

Ideas much appreciated -inside or outside Peak District.

Looking forward to Friday, of course

Kraker,
depends on what you want to photograph? Chester (a walled town founded by the romans) is near and well worth a visit.
