I also like Slavich and had been careful to use the dark
red safelight filters as recommended. After using it for
a while, however, I tested it by using my standard
Thomas instrument safelight with the orange filter.
This really provides a lot of light and there was
no evidence of it fogging the Slavich at all.

I don't know why they do that. Emaks, IIRC, is another
that specifies RED. Both work fine with yellow to orange
safe lights. Both are Graded papers which are blue sensitive
only. A nice + using Graded; a really well lit darkroom. Dan

I too had no problem using the orange safe light.

I started out heading the warning about the red safelight. However, I've been using the standard orange OC light for a good while with no problems.
