Hi all ... I'm looking for Ilford's liquid concentrate equivalent to ID-11. I like the results I'm getting with ID-11 but need a concentrate which will be more convenient for my irregular (spasmodic) developing sessions. I'm finding the powder mixing and relatively short shelf life of the ID-11 stock a bit inconvenient. My local supplier seems to always have LC-29 in stock. Does it give similar results to ID-11?
Cheers

Not really, but it`s OK. I prefer ID-11 or Perceptol. For a longer life, those developers are best stored in glass bottles, not plastic containers.

It will be close enough for most practical purposes. Especially at twice normal dilution, I find it remarkably similar (as in near identical) to ID-11/D-76 1:1. (By "it", I mean Ilfotec HC. HC and LC-29 are the same chemical, just concentrated differently.)

I have not used LC-29, but in Ilfotec HC terms, I am talking about the 1:63 dilution.

ID-11 should make for grainier negs than normal-strength ("dilution B") HC, especially at 1:1. I'd try a controlled comparison if you are having trouble...however, neither one should be terribly grainy unless doing a lot of enlargement.

For in-camera film, I use HC at 1:31 and 1:63. For litho film, anywhere from 1:63 to 1:127.

Full glass bottles will store ID!! for6 months. Mix a liter and put into four 8 oz bottles.
Six months later, mix a new batch.

LC 29 has a shelf life so it is best decanted on opening also.

Rodinal or R09 are the go to developers for long shelf life. Again use glass.
Perodically I use some 1998 Rodinal I put in a glass bottle. In early 2009 it still worked ok. Actually it just stared to turn color.
