I see an Ilford PIM 5x4 camera with a wray lustrar f8 lens on ebay for less than $150. Can anyone tell me if an Ilford PIM would be a wise buy for a first 5x4 camera for someone with a low budget, experiences please.

Yes, a good introduction. But remember that mono rail cameras are not so portable as the folding models, and the PIM will be a fine example of 1950's british engineering (e.g. bomb proof). ask the buyer for the weight.
