Has anybody tried this?
The reason is that I want to keep the stock solution in a number of small glass bottles (which I got cheap, that's me  ) but their contents do not fit with one bottle for one 600 ml (2 pints) developing tank.

In continuation of the above: How close to saturation is the stock solution? Can you make it say 20% stronger (using less water for the same amount of chemicals)?

That's very dilute. The usual is to develop in the stock solution and reuse, or dilute 1+1 and discard after developing. I'm not sure there would be enough developer to do a film in a 600ml tank if you diluted 1+7.

ID-11 is my usual stand-by developer and I tried it 1-3 on some Fomapan film but was sadly disappointed with the results so the best I do now is 1-1. There was not enough developer in a 600 ml tank to do a proper job also I contacted DD about the failure and they put up a notice to be cautious about the ratio on that film.

Raghu Kuvempunagar has written about using D76/ID-11 at 1+9, I guess he would have replied, but he left the Forum today after some nasty comments by another Forum member.

If you do use D76/ID-11 at 1+9 you need to add an alkali like Sodium Carbonate. He may have discussed it with me in a PM, we had many long discussions privately.

Thank you! I
Would you know about my other question: How little water can I use for the chemicals you normally use one liter for? If I want to make a more concentrated stock solution.

You'll have to try, but I *think* you can probably dissolve a 1 liter packet in about 500ml. Use warm water (ca. 50C) to make it dissolve quicker.
The solubility limit is probably dictated by the sodium sulfite, which is 27g/100ml at 20C (but mind you, that takes a lot of time and stirring!) With warm water and a bit of a safety margin I think you should be able to make ID11 at twice its normal strength.

Warm water will certainly help, but precipitation may occur once cool. Obviously, further dilution would be required in this case.

If he has left permanently that's a real pity as that loses us another link in Photrio's collective knowledge and the site becomes diminished
