I’m wondering if anyone has 4x10 film that you could sell. I have managed to find a 4x10 camera and holder; I already have lenses that will fit this format, but no film!

It looks like the Ilford ULF program will get me the film sometime in the fall. I could either buy the film outright from you or if you have enough quantities to last you until the fall I’d be happy to place an order in your name, and additionally I’ll throw a couple of 120 HP5 or TriX rolls as a thank you for the inconvenience.

I’m located in Portland, OR.

If you are having difficulty sourcing this format, I'd just buy a box of 8x10 and cut it down myself. Just a thought...

Thank you. I’m aware of this possibility and it’s more of a last resort - I don’t have a guillotine cutter, and I’d need to perforate the film to imprint a pattern (?) to note the emulsion side presumably.

You can use a simple hole punch to notch the film. It's not difficult. I periodically cut down color film to 4x10 as you can't find that anywhere.

Yes, I did mean it as a last resort... I've always snipped the top, right-hand corner with fingernail clippers. By the way, I use a rotary cutter, not a guillotine cutter, which would be a bit dangerous in the dark...

Thanks Andy!

When I googled cutting 8x10 film the first hit Gemini AI suggested was a video from your YouTube channel 😁

About a year an a half ago I ordered Ilford Ortho in 4x10 from the Film Photography Project during the last Ortho ULF window. (The Ortho ULF dates are different than the dates for FP4/HP5/Delta). The price was quite a bit cheaper than FP4. HP5 and Delta in 4x10. It was ~US$90 for a 25 sheet box.

I ordered a couple of boxes, but Ilford eventually cancelled the order without explanation. I assumed they had gotten the price wrong and didn't want to fulfill. Totally understandable. Then about 3 months later FPP wrote that their orders with Ilford had been reinstated at the original quoted price.

I'm not sure what happened (and not sure I care either) but if the 4x10 Ortho price is the same this year I'd recommend jumping on it. Ortho is very nice stock and anything under $4/sheet for 4x10 is a bargain by today's standards. I understand that film companies need to make money, but the current ULF prices are pretty much unaffordable. In 2025 11x14 film was closing in on $25/sheet, and 2 1/4 x 3 1/4 film on $3/sheet. I wonder what it will be this year.
