Like lots of chemicals, pyrogallol ends up in the strangest places. If you are determined to avoid all contact with it, do not eat smoked meats.

I know about Sodium Nitrate and Sodium Nitrite in smoked meats, but never heard of Pyrogallic Acid or Pyrogallol used in smoked meats. I smoke meat and fish and have never used it. I'm also not aware of the Sodium Nitrate/Nitrite breaking down and forming Pyrogallic Acid/Pyrogallol. Fill us in!

Damn, this thread has gotten pretty far afield from me trying to show off my scans. To me, smoked meat means bbq and bbq is for eating, not developing films. :D

I had a good laugh at that one!

For the OP, I enjoyed your auto images very much...darn sharp...generally, even with image stabilized lenses,
I try to never go south of 60th sec...and with 2&1/4...well that's another story...

Haha! Yes just slap the film down between two slabs of smoked meat and leave for 1 hour...

Thanks for letting us have fun.

Just be sure to check before taking a bite, this is not the kind of gelatin you want to be eating, it's too crunchy...
