It can but is fixed Grade (not given). Ilford state it's designed for RGB laser exposure or an LED digital enlarger, but can be used with conventional halogen lamp enlargers. The downside is it is Panchromatic so you can't use a safelight. Be great for paper negatives.

So better to spend your money on MG FB.

I kind of doubt it. Ilford lists it as being optimized for digital exposure, and does not state a grade for it.

This I know. But you know , in color also there is info that they are optimized for digital and under enlarger it is ok

What do you mean it turns gray out? After developing in chemistry or still within the shelf life ?

I wish it were suitable for color negatives in a traditional darkroom enlarging set up. I have a very large library of color negatives, and used to use Panalure to good effect. Every time I have researched the subject, I get discouraged. Maybe some day I will try it out for myself!

this paper is a grade 4 paper to be used in complete darkness, so with that said if you want to go an all analogue route with this paper you would need to tailor your negs to the grade 4 paper, If you wanted to use a digital neg process then you could calibrate a profile for this process and the paper would work well with digital contacts.... When I used this paper we had an onboard densitometer and we calibrated the step wedges by adjusting RGB laser strengths.

When making B&W prints from colour negatives you typically need around Grade 4 paper. Like this paper Panlure was Panchromatic, however the minimum size for the FB paper is a 20" x30m/98ft roll, There's more variety of widths, starting at 4", with the RC version, but they are 150m rolls.

I am used to work in total darkness, as I worked extensively with Panalure. The need to cut down rolls is annoying, but managable. Panalure was originally one contrast grade (FB single weight); the later RC version had three grades, which worked well.

Is there potential to manage contrast to some degree by selection of developers and developing time?

The biggest question I have, is is it possible to make a good print from this paper from a color negative using a traditional darkroom process? If so, I can then experiment, knowing it is NOT a lost cause!

Yes you can use developers like ID-3/D165 which is soft working they can drop contrast by about a grade, or ID-14 which increases contrast by around a grade.

The biggest problem is getting hold of a small quantity to test,

A question for Bob and anyone else who still uses this Galerie Digital FB paper. How shiny is its surface? Is it comparable to the now-discontinued Galerie graded paper we used in our darkrooms? Or the same kind of surface shine one finds on current Multigrade Classic FB? Or current Multigrade Warmtone FB? Or? Thanks in advance for any insight you can provide.

It looks a lot like the surface of Ilford Classic , it seems to be a bit cooler .
