Hi all,
I've only ever used Ilford paper but have got some fomabrom and fomatone VC papers.
Are the normal Ilford MG filters suitable for use with these papers?

Thanks,

Tom McDonald.

Dear Pinholemaster,

Not quite...especially in quality of manufacture.

Dear Tom,

They will work fine with FOMA

Simon. ILFORD Photo / HARMAN technology limited

Standardized? No. Will they work? Yes. If you had the Kodak Polymax filters, they'd work too, but a little differently than the Ilford ones. Example: Using a #2 Ilford might be about the same as using a 2 1/2 Kodak or the other way around. Certainly though, it's only at the extreme ends of the range that you run into limitations. It's just a question of learning how the equipment and materials you already have respond to each other.

Thanks all.
On to the second part of the question.
I've got these papers for lith printing. Is there any point using the filters when exposing the papers for this kind of development?

Hi Tom, you don't need the filters for lith printing. Exposure affects the highlights and development affects the shadows.
