This would certainly be a welcome development for all the people who are mourning the loss of apx25 and who have found that other 25 speed films are not what they wanted. But doesn't it seem surprising that Ilford would undercut the market for its own Pan F? But then, by that reasoning, I guess we would have none of the Delta films, so I clearly don't know what I'm talking about.

If this is actually true (and I doubt it is) then I think fewer would mourn the loss of PanF+ than would cheer the return of APX25.

Um, I like Delta 100 very much so far. Nicer tones and much, much more forgiving than TMX. I would think a Delta 25 might be an excellent introduction to the market.

My cameras spend a lot of time on a tripod doing still lifes as well as landscapes and they would love a slower Delta film.

Now if they would only make an XTOL clone. That would kick ass.

I don't think my Fuji Frontier nor my OM-10 SLR could benifit from that sort of res, A rangfinder (I hear they are capable of a much higher res) and a Drum Scanner or an enlarger with a good lens may benefit though. I would be interested if anybody has any links that shows what res the 50mm Zuiko is cabable of though.

Arn't they just copy films that have been around for years, and somone reaslised they could be used and solf pictorial?

There have been some that have been told that this film is not going to happen. This includes Stephen Webb that answered an email from the Ilford website. I have asked Simon to confirm this info and fill us in either way.

I really like Delta 100 which for me replaced Agfa 25. That was a great film! If they do make the 25 asa I'll certainly try it. Having both speeds in my arsenal would be great. especially in 4x5. Having it 35 mm in 25 asa would be a mixed blessing but I would definately carry it and use it when the situation works. Love that clean grain!.

Hi All,

I have already posted information re new product developments : Firstly we always develop our own products and have never bought in 'products' usually because nearly every product has to be specifically designed ( or redesigned ) for whichever coating machine it is coated on and whichever raw materials are sourced to manufacture.

DELTA 25 is a 'would like to have product' but is not yet a designated R&D project and no decision will be made before the end of 2006, if we do make it, it would be an addition to the range and would not replace PAN F+.

In the other post on this subject, you mentioned the reason for not having Pan F in sheet film size (due to issues with the base and emulsion not getting along...). Would it be a safe guess to say that when delta 25 is developed, it will developed to work with one of your existing sheet film bases ?

Dear Steve,

The first development is always miniature film, which outsells are all other formats by a huge amount, then a commercial decision is made to go to other formats with the R&D developments required to achive that, different bases, manufacturability etc.
