Has anyone else noticed that the cost of a 1 liter bottle of Ilford DD-X at Jessops has jumped from 11.99 pounds sterling (UK) to 15.99?

DD-X has never been cheap and always somewhat overpriced, but frankly this is excessive.

What's going on Ilford? This stuff can't be that expensive to produce and quite honestly, you are pricing yourself out of the market. I shoot a lot of film and will probably have to switch to something like Xtol or similar.

I wouldn't necessarily jump to the conclusion that this is an Ilford price increase. jessops are in deep s**t and maybe looking for every extra penny they can get. Nova are currently charging £12.29 and Silverprint charge £12.65. for a litre of DD-X. I think Ilford deserve our support for their faith in Film, paper and chemicals.

We have had only one price increase this year back in february:

Thanks, I'll check some other shops. Jessops was the easiest to get to. As we all know finding traditional supplies in stores is not all that simple these days.

I use DD-X for two reason. It gives me the look I favor and I want to support Ilford financially. Unfortuantely during a heavy month I can burn through several bottles of DD-X and costs add up quickly. In any case I'll shop around.

On another note, while I have Simon's attention, can you tell us a little about ILFORD GALERIE FB DIGITAL? Is it making inroads with labs? I would love to find a lab in London that uses your paper, but have been unable to find one. Perhaps you can recommend a place?

Thanks,

HL

If you are using a lot of DD-X, order some DD (Dip & Dunk) developer which is supplied in 5 litres and cost quite a bit less than five individual bottles of DD-X, which I am informed is the same stuff.

Thanks for the advice Keith. That's a good idea.

It gets particularly ugly when I shoot a lot of 120.
My steel tank needs about 180ml for two rolls of 120.
So, I get about 8-10 rolls of 120 per liter.

I'm clocking about 12-15 rolls of 135 per liter of DD-X (both at 1:4).

If it's a heavy month, things can get ugly.

Thanks. I saw that Argento is making digital bromide prints.
But I haven't found a lab that uses Ilford's new digital FB paper.
