I have never shot a roll of Delta 400 in my life. WHY! What happened to "Pan-F only" or "HP5 only"? Delta 400... my excitement level in barely blipping the screen. :/ Well, I need Ilford goodies, so I'll just say that 3 rolls of Delta 400 buys a s***load of HP5 and FP4. Those are my useless 2 cents

C'mon, folks! You spend a few bucks, make some effort, enter a contest. You stand to win $250 to $1,000 worth of Ilford products. Your chances of spending $20 and winning the weekly lottery are a whole lot lower.

Not having tried Delta 400 since before it was improved a few years back, I'm curious. Might have to give this one a shot. Or two.

Given the enthusiasm on this site (and others) for T-Max 400, I can see why Ilford/Harman might try to promote one of their competing film products.

Note: I'm just a photographer and have no affiliation with Ilford/Harman, a retailer, wholesaler or other distributor of their products.

From reading the terms and conditions any Ilford paper can be used, not just RC. The contest is being advertised on promotional packs of RC paper that contain two rolls of Delta 400.

I am not a big photo contest person but I will buy a few rolls of Delta 400 and buy a 25 pack of paper to print an entry or two on. Did not see anything about an entry fee, so just the cost of shipping a few prints.

Never was a big fan of Delta 400 (love Delta 100 in roll film). So I guess with me it will help them accomplish selling more film and paper, probably some Warmtone.

It's strange that they're disqualifying sheet film from a photo competition.

I didn't see Ilford disqualify sheet film, did i miss that? Obviously Delta 400 is not available in sheet film except for a box of 5x7 in my freezer.
Time to break it out

Having won an Ilford "Image on a Box" competition several years ago I must say it is well worth the effort to try some Ilford 400 Delta film! I am still using the Iford products I won so they have continued to allow me to make alot more work that I might otherwise not have done due to the expense of photographic materials. All I can say is it's worth it if not only to be a great excuse to make new work. Taking a chance just for someone far away to see your work is also it's own reward.

I agree! I got a big kick out of being in France and recognizing Kate's name on the box of Ilford paper that I was using (I think I'll always remember that gorilla!). I don't normally use Delta but I'll probably try my hand at this, although I don't know if I can produce anything that can be called "fine art".

Come now...Don't waste such a prized box of film on a silly contest. :D

I haven't shot Δ400 either, but looking at local prices it's the same price as FP4 in 35mm rolls, and about $5 more for a 30m bulk roll, so I don't know how your figuring that it's so much more expensive. The idea, I think, is for people to try it, personally I think getting the speed of HP5 and the same amount of grain as FP4 would be worth a small premium. Planning on trying it though, and then TMY and seeing which I like better.

Would I submit a couple of prints to a contest, I need to read the rules first, before determining whether I would enter or not. It comes down to the rights to use of the image.

I've got about 10 sheets or so left of Delta 400 in the freezer. Hmmmm.

Care to elaborate on what exactly came in your prize package? Just curious.

Not a fan of Delta 400 myself (which bothers me a bit since Delta 100 is so lovely) but I'm up for a challenge.

Hi naugastyle,

It was awesome! I received 2 boxes of 100-8X10 sheets glossy Ilford B&W paper, 2 boxes of 100-8X10 sheets of Ilford Satin B&W paper, 100 sheets glossy Fiber 8X10 Ilford B&W paper, 2 boxes of Ilford postcard paper pearl finish, 2 boxes of 3.5 X 5 -100 sheets Ilford pearl B&W paper, 10 rolls of Ilford
135-36 Delta B&W 100 film, and 10 rolls of Ilford FP4 Plus 135-36 B&W film. Also when the boxes with the image were ready they sent me two boxes of the Ilford 100 sheets - 8X10 pearl MG RC boxes that had my image on it (full of paper too!)

I've almost used all of it but have some paper left. Used the last two rolls of the Delta 100 yesterday.

What can it hurt? It is not like a roll of film and a little paper will break my budget...

Give them a chance Ian. Most of them are still in bed and asleep [/URL]

I was busy whitening my teeth after the multiple super-sized Big Mac meals.

My picture on a box. It was for a HP5+ contest a few years ago, although the box just came out recently. They also had a SFX200 contest not too long ago.
