Has anyone heard of Ilford going into bankruptcy? Will they cease to produce film and paper products?

Has anyone heard that Ilford is going bankrupt? will they cease to produce b&w film and paper?

What? You mean this is a recent thing? They recently had a management buyout and everything was supposed to be back to normal.

What makes you ask? What have you heard? The latest I have is that the management buyout is complete and the company is up and running again.

Ilford isn't going Bankrupt, In fact they are thinking of bringing back a few items that got discontinued. This is ust a rumor that was not quash long ago that you are finally hearing about.

What again, already ?!!

No they are fully back from the dead and even talking about expanding their product line in future.

The situation regarding Ilford is: the UK business has been the subject of a successful management buyout, is now known as Ilford Photo and will continue producing almost all the analogue products associated with Ilford including powdered chemicals such as ID11, Ilfochrome paper, as well as the usual films and papers. Ilford Photo hold the rights to all the well known Ilford formulae and still retain the manufacturing facility at Mobberley in Cheshire UK although I understand that they are not the owners they lease it. The new directors who are all long term employees of the old Ilford comapny, see analogue photography materials as the main core of their business. I have no idea at present whether they intend to move into the digital market place although I know that they have agreed a contract with Ilford Switzerland to continue to produce digital paper for them. This information was given to me in a conversation with the directors at the recent Focus show in the UK. Ilford Photo have no connection with any other Ilford company in any part of the world and I do believe that Ilford America and Switzerland are still up for sale.

Ilford is ok

The latest I read in the last issue of View Camera is a quote form the new head of Ilford photo " We intend to be the last man standing when it comes to black&white imaging". I trust the source(view camera magazine) so I'm not going to worry until the sky falls for real. By the way for you alt-photo type this same article stated that Ilford was thinking about eventually being a supplier of dry glass plates!!!

Wow, and all I wanted was for them to start making 220 again!
